Pension Counseling Service
Who Is Eligible
All covered members are entitled to this service. Any member may receive pension counseling, whether or not he/she is contemplating retirement in the near future.
What Is The Service
Professional pension consultants will provide covered members with information concerning income and benefits under the various retirement options available to them as City employees. All pension counseling is provided on a “one to one” basis; that is, each member will have an individual conference with a consultant. The consultants will assist covered members by providing general information concerning the various retirement options, and will be able to respond to any specific questions (e.g., a question concerning the benefits available to a member’s beneficiaries in the event of his/her death).
How To Obtain The Service
To schedule a personal appointment with a Fund pension consultant, telephone the Fund Office, at (212) 777- 9000, ext. 3060. A Letter will be mailed to let the member know what information is needed to bring to the interview. The information provided by the member is used by the pension consultant to calculate basic retirement benefits, income, etc.
Covered members whose appointments have been scheduled should write down all their needs and questions so that they may discuss these with the consultant during the personal interview. Interviews take place at the Fund’s office at 1501 Broadway, Suite 450 New York, NY 10036.
NOTE: Covered members who intend to retire in the near future (e.g., within six months) should telephone the Fund’s office as soon as possible, to ensure that an appointment is scheduled with the pension consultant before the retirement date.
